Why We Are Here

Remember the movie the "Accidental Tourist"?  My wife and I are "Accidental RVers."  We never intended to start traveling in an RV - sorta like we never intended to become lawyers.  It just kinda happened.

I've been looking for a good RV blog, and I like a couple, but a lot of them are for full-time RV'ers.  Sure.  You guys are young and stylish and have super cool things to share, but what about the rest of us?

My wife and I have two kids, and vacation on the weekends when we can.  We use our RV for drinking in fields w/o having to drive home, summer vacations, beach weekend getaways, and as a personal hotel room.

We've discovered some great things, and learned some hard lessons.  Maybe by reading this, you can learn from our experiences, and maybe in your comments, you can add some great ideas and inspire us.

We are on our 3rd RV.  Our first was a beloved 2003 Four Winds metrohome.  More on that in a future post.  Long story short, I had no idea what I was doing when I bought it, and turns out the walls were seriously rotten.

So, I took a bath on that and we bought a 2016 Keystone Hideout TT.  We loved that thing, and took it all over Michigan and Ontario.  Great little trailer, and I would recommend a Hideout to anyone.

This year, we upgraded to a 2018 Jayco Flight TT.  Wonderful trailer (so far).  More about this model and why we upgraded later, but all you need to know now is that we intend to use this one until the kids graduate from high school.

We are based in Michigan, and really don't stray far from home.  I just don't have enough time to make a meaningful run out West or East, although I really would like to.

So, that is who we are.

And these are our adventures in a plywood box on wheels.
